There are moments when the history of who we are takes over
And we become too white, too black, too female, too Spanish,
Too Asian, too rich, too poor and we forget that sun rises each dawn
On all of us and we have to struggle with coffee and waking up just like
Everybody else and step into our history like scripts in a play we didn’t
Write but we speak our lines—waiting for the director to shout "cut."
