The Backyard Of My Life

Along Came The Devil

 Along Came The Devil

Midnight on the water heavy in her heart
Blackjack on the table turn another card
Like a twist of smoke along came the devil in the dark
After sunrise the blue sky tainted painted black
The colors on the canvas started to crack
Everything was broken bar tender tells the thief
Your wanted dead or alive i think you better leave
Somewhere down the highway trying to run and hide
Along came the devil like a thorn in the side
With murder on his mind and poison in his plan
Along came the devil the down fall of man
Looking for the crown of the serpent sisterhood
A clause in the contract she signed her name in blood
Fist full of coins nothing to do nowhere to go
Along came devil and said i hate to say i told you so
There's a ghost train coming when i ring that bell
Kicking and screaming gonna drag you to hell
The thief still scared busy biding time
Searching for forgiveness in a glass of wine
Knows nobody can save him from a tragic fate
Someday he'll meet his maker the devils
Gonna greet him at the gate
Many moons later in the misty month of may
something in the shadows tried to take him away
Along came the devil in disguise
He felt his fear looked him in his eyes
Meanwhile Mary was waiting on a prayer
For a sacrifice to be made to somehow save her
Like a needle and thread the deed is done
Try's to put her finger on it then its gone
Along came the devil in a sour milk sea
Get your things together your coming with me
After avoiding all the traps staying one step ahead
She was made to suffer it was off with her head
The thief lasted a little longer
Thought that he was wise thought that he was stronger
Along came the devil to take him down
Take back the night take back the crown
Along came the devil
Along came the devil
Along came the devil
