GRANDPA
CHARLIE
BRANTNER

Durand Wisconsin
HE with my
Five UNCLES
they all took him
ICE FISHING
they brought his
Luxery ICE HOUSE
out on the
LAKE
to
go
Comfortably
warm and
COZY
ICE
FISHIN
HIS
LIMIT
of Sunnies
of Crappies
of perch
and
of Bass
he always
overEXCEEDED
and WAY a back in the DAY
when I was growing UP
he always so
BOUNTIFULLY
and
PLENTIFULLY
so
manyMANYmany
FISH he did CATCH
with a little short
and TiNY
FISHIN POLE
with in the ICE
a twelve inch HOLE
drilled
DEEP
IN
Well when my GRAMPS
came home
he SAID NOT a WORD
but pulled out of the
TRUCK
a HUGE overFILLED
Buckets and Buckets
of
SUNNIES
CRAPPIES
PERCH
and
some
BASS
and a few
WALLEYE
and a Northern or
TWO
and just grinned
with
HIS PROUD
fresh
catch
of
Bountiful
WISCONSIN
FISH
Then my
GRANDMA
she came OUT
and not
even
SAYING
one
SINGLE
WORD or TWO
to
GRAMPS
as SHE
was just
so
happilyHAPPILYhappily
SMILING
SMILING
SMILING
ear to ear
and
HEART to HEART
with
great
DELIGHT
then she would PERFECTLY
CLEAN every
sunny
crappie
perch
bass
and
walleye
then she would put
them in
MILK CARTONS
and FILL
them
up with
water
and tape the top
and
Put in the
DEEP
FREEZER
the deep FREEZER
in the GARAGE
was as BIG
WIDE and DEEP
and Long and TALL
and WOULD
HOLD
tons and TONS and tons
of
gramps
WISCONSIN
FRESH
FRESH
FRESH
FISH
and
GRAMS
would always be ready to cook a tasty
FISH
DISH
For all of the FISH, that my GRAMPS CAUGHT
They would so GENEROUSLY SHARE, with every Family Member
and NEIGHBORS,and FRIENDS, so FOLKS
all around and near THEM
neverNEVERnever
tasted
or
ATE
FISH
Store
BOUGHT
The BIG LOVING GRIN
on MY GRAMPS FACE
when HE was So PROUD
of his PRIZED
always
Record BREAKING
CATCH
that he and
all
my Uncles
GOT
And the
LOVING SWEET and PROUD
SMILE on my GRAND MAS
FACE
When for
Hours and Hours and Hours
she so
PERFECTLY
CLEANED
every
HUNDREDS of
FISHES
with
my
MOM
And then cooked and cooked so many MORE
and gave AWAY
and FREEZED
ALOT
ALOT
ALOT
My GRAMPS
my GRAMS
in all of my Life Living and
LOVE
i have never seen or KNOWN
two People
WHO SAID SO MUCH
with
just
a
simple
SWEET
GRIN
and
SMILE
As my
GRAMPS
and my
GRAMS
will always LAST
and WITH ME FOR
A
LIFETIME
SHINE-and-GLOW
REMEMBERING

Loud and Clear
LOVING
SWEET SMILE and GRIN

touches my
