As winter creeps in
On silent cat's paws
My heart settles in
For a rest
Sol's mellow light is
Gentle and brief
As the trees in white
finery are dressed.
So much of our lives
Are spent in a whirl
no time to be
Mindful and pause
But solstice has come
days lengthen toward spring
And souls need
a respite because
Our natures are such
We need time to recharge,
to contemplate life for a while
In nature's example,
its cycles and laws
We find our great God's
knowing smile.
