Petes Poetry

The Greyhound

My prey, only synthetic on the rail.
The real goal, the holy grail.

The immortal legends of the track.
The verminator said "I'll be back"

The trail of genes, heritage and blood-line.
Some say thin, but weight variation a crime.

So feed me, love me, train me for the assignment.
Dying to serve, but you think god's design bent.

So food my reward, the tool to set my sights.
My greatest asset my eyes, and the love of the fight.

So push me, and I'll give if you need.
For what you put in, is what you get out, The gift of our breed.

By Peter Riddoch.
