Poetic Verses

To Be Their Stooge No More

When you let them do your thinking
You are thought of as a stooge
One who is slowly victimized
By cunning subterfuge.

These people don't believe that you
Should stand on your own feet
No, they prefer you to be blind
Bamboozled by deceit.

And thus become a mouthpiece
No more than just a shill
Who spews repugnant hatefulness
To satisfy their will.

But if that label doesn't fit
Then why would you sell out
To those who mock your intellect
Which they already doubt?

Instead, you ought to say goodbye
Yes, bid them all adieu
For they can't tell you what to think
Lest you allow them to.

But if it's true, you have to change
And it need not be a chore
Just make a promise to yourself
To be their stooge no more.
