I loved the way we danced together on the weekend,
the way our bodies gyrated in syncopated rhythms.
I loved how you listened whenever I sang a song;
even though you didn't sing yourself you let me be me.
I loved the ease and pure joy in our growing relationship,
the way we held hands and kissed as we watched TV.
I loved making up with you after we had a fight,
the way sorry always meant forgiveness for us both.
I loved the way your sky blue eyes always lit up
when I walked into a room or walked past you in the kitchen.
I loved the way we called each other on the nights we were apart,
and the way the smile in your voice was my true home.
I loved the way we laughed and shared our jokes,
the way you brought me roses or paid for my nails to be done.
I loved your presence in my life and loved your daughters too,
the way you treated my children as if they were your own.
I loved us and just being together planning for our wedding
and I only wish that I could give your life back to you.
I miss the way we just took our honeymoon for granted,
the way you would have looked in your dapper new suit.
