Darkness True

Alone on an old country road, my car has come to a halt.
I looked at my gauges and found the assault. No gas, how did I let that pass.
The sun was setting in the crimson sky. The last flames of day soon slipped by.
I grabbed my gas can and pushed my car to the side of the road, it was a heavy load.
I ready the car, I place it in the park mode and continue in the pending dark.
The moon showed brightly in the heavens so sightly.
Two miles ahead a gas station appeared. There was a silent cheer.
Two gallons of gas was all I could carry back to my car.
The weight of that gas would travel far.
The car was ready to go when I heard a blood-curdling scream and seen a mist of steam.
A young woman came running in my direction, hoping to find protection.
What terror she held in her eyes, what agony emerged in her sighs.

Be watching for part two for "Darkness True."
