Still Waiting

She rises early hoping the nurse would soon come and get her for shower. She finally hears her coming down the hall. The door opens "Good Morning, Mrs. Wilson" says the nurse with a smile. Ive been waiting for you, says Mrs. Wilson. What would you like me to do for you, today? Well, I"m hoping my daughter will come to see me, today. I havent seen her in such a long time. Then you will get the works, shower, hair, nails, the works. Your too good to me, she says with a big smile. You deserve the best. As the nurse gets her favorite dress out of the closet. Mrs. Wilson, begins telling her all about her daughter and how proud she is of her. The nurse draws her bath with bubbles just as she likes it. Mrs. Wilson feels like a child again playing with the bubbles and blowing them off her hand and into the air. They both laugh as she helps wash her back. She helps her dry and get her robe and slippers on and sits her down in a chair in front of the bathroom mirror. She does her hair, makeup and nails. Mrs. Wilson is so excited. She thanks her nurse over and over. You dont have to thank me I enjoy doing these things for you. Again, you are so kind and too good to me. Where would like to wait at? I want to go outside and wait in the garden. Okay, and I will bring you some tea for you and your daughter. Bless you, child, bless you as she pats her hand. The nurse watches from the kitchen window as she makes some fresh tea. She brings the tea out and she see a sad look on Mrs. Wilson's face. She's not coming. The nurse comforts her and tells her I would love to have tea with you and spend the day with you. Oh, dont you have to work? Im finished with my shift. I would love the company. They laugh, talk and even went on a long walk. Mrs. Wilson was feeling tired. The nurse took her to her room And helps her get into bed. I had a lovely day thank you for being so good to me. The nurse watched as she drifted off to sleep. She leaned over and kissed her and said "I had a lovely day too, Mom. I love you. I will see you, tomorrow."

Alzheimer's - In their minds they are still waiting.
