God gives comfort to His people,
Speaks tenderly to Jerusalem;
Crying unto the disciple,
Fret not that the Lord would condemn.
Cry that the warfare has ended,
Your iniquity is pardoned;
Because the past is suspended,
For your heart no longer hardened.
You received the hand of the Lord,
His hand double for all your sin;
If you remain in one accord,
For your revival to begin.
A voice cries in the wilderness,
To prepare the way of the Lord;
Rid yourself of the bitterness,
All temptation to be ignored.
Construct a straight desert highway,
For God to come down a smooth path;
Guiding us so we do not stray,
While being spared from the wrath.
Every valley uplifted,
Every mountain be made low;
Uneven ground to be shifted,
Rough places no longer to show.
Glory of the Lord is revealed,
All flesh will see it together;
Like blooming flowers in the field,
To the temple they will gather.
But all of the grass will wither,
And the blooming flowers will fade;
No longer will someone dither,
For the ones that have disobeyed.
Go up to a high mountain top,
Heralding about the Good News;
Lift up your voice never to stop,
Showing of what each one could choose.
Behold the Lord will come with might,
As He possesses His reward;
He will come in the dead of night,
As He carries the sacred sword.
Like a shepherd He tends His flock,
Gather up the lambs in His arm;
Knowing His voice hearing Him talk,
Slays whatever coming to harm.
