Enough to Clear The Clouds Away 4/13/2019

Its always best
for a girl to start out
with a clean face
a new heart
each morning

give the light
some time to clear
the clouds away

if the sun decides to show
to stay
its better than fair warning

maybe its a sign
like birds suddenly on the wind
or how when things drop
they separate
and are no longer gathering

I've been waking in the night
wondering who or where I am

but sometimes
I feel the change
and know it has come
like when a cat you don't know
comes in your lap
and stays.

I have noticed a disturbing thing. Some of my poems have
gone missing from this site. This poem was already here
in another form...I was trying to remember it and could not.
This was as much of it as I could recall.

I found the original! I was written down over
a watercolor abstract painting...so here it is:

*************
Its always best
for a girl
to start out the morning
with a clean face
an open heart and open,
wide-open eyes--
give the light some time
to clear the clouds away.

If the sun should come out today,
its better than fair warning.

Maybe its a sign.
Like birds on the wing.
Or a full pink sky settling in.
Or how when things drop,
they separate
and are no longer gathering.

Or,
when an unfamiliar cat chooses your lap,
you smile.
