Poetic Verses

You Fiendish Vertigo

You forced your way into my life
when you thought my hands were tied,
but I didn't let you conquer me
in spite of how you tried.

You strove to change my lifestyle
and make me a recluse,
because I never knew just when
I'd suffer your abuse.

You pressed to knock me off my feet
and bring me to my knees,
as if I were a sloppy drunk
on another of his sprees.

You tried to take them all away,
the things I most enjoy
and see me yield to idleness,
my contentment to destroy.

You really had me thinking
that the curse would never end,
but I have learned to fight you off
and now I'm on the mend.

Yes, you forced your way into my life
and brought me angst and woe,
but I didn't let you conquer me,
you fiendish vertigo.
