I exhort elders among you,
A fellow elder I witness;
The sufferings of Christ is true,
Through endured spiritual fitness.
As a partaker of glory,
That is going to be revealed;
You will then know the whole story,
As soon as it has been unsealed.
Shepherd the flock as among you,
While exercising oversight;
Not as a compulsive construe,
Rather wisdom to shed some light.
Do it willingly as God would,
But never for a shameful gain;
Do it eagerly as you should,
Not domineering to cause pain.
Be an example to the flock,
And when the chief Shepherd appears;
Unfading glory as you walk,
Who will be calming all your fears.
For those of you who are younger,
Be subject unto the elders;
Cater if they thirst or hunger,
Ensuring that nothing hinders.
Clothe yourself with humility,
For God gives grace to the humble;
He will give the ability,
And confidence not to stumble.
Be humble under His right hand,
At a right time, God will exalt;
Obedient to His command,
He will erase every fault.
Cast your anxieties to Him,
And He will give you peace of mind;
Sober-minded spiritual vim,
Helps you to be humble and kind.
But be watchful and vigilant,
Satan is the lion that roars;
Temptation that is fraudulent,
To snare everyone, it lures.
