Peace of Mind
Why do we nix that peace of mind
The world may never see
That gift of God's amazing grace
Freely offered you and me?
Why ignore the depth and gravity
Of gambling with our fate
When redemption surely can be ours
Lest we tarry till too late?
Why disregard the certainty
That one day we must die
Which ought to make us mindful that
Our departure could be nigh?
Why fill our days with lavishness
Which leads to discontent
Living day to day so recklessly
Seeing no need to repent?
Oh, but all of us are guilty
At least to some degree
When we, as if on sunny days
Have eyes but do not see.
So, the question we must ask ourselves
If we are thus inclined
Is why we don't accept God's gift
And claim that peace of mind?
