The Backyard Of My Life

Don't Let The Stars Get In Your Eyes

Don't let the stars get in your eyes
When your holding the world in your hands
Once upon a dream somewhere beyond the sky
Over by the cast iron shore
Look through the key hole behind that locked door
You see the road is like a worn out rope
When the scales tip you just cant cope

Keep pulling at the thread of the universal you
Beware of mind blowers they trick and trap you too
We only get what we settle for
fourth time around two times before
Like a broken record skipping on repeat
The night is long the day will knock you off your feet
Sinking like a ship on a stormy sea

Don't let the sun catch you crying
When your dreaming your life away
Here or there and in between but far beyond the sky
Under a watercolor cloudburst
Feed your soul and quench your thirst for knowledge
Nobody knows what tomorrow brings
Meet me in the morning with a brand new pair of wings

When the old blue moon turns gold again
I don't know where i don't know when
Watch out for false Prophets pretending to be true
They try to spin a wicked web so they can capture you
We only get what we settle for
You'll reap what you sow that's for sure
Like a little willow blowing in the wind and rain
When the day is done the night will still remain
Rising like a wave in a sour milk sea

Don't let the stars get in your eyes
When your standing on the shoulders of mountains
Searching for heaven somewhere beyond the sky
Over by a babbling brook
Like the pages in an ancient book
The tides will turn time will fold
The futures never ours to hold
Don't let the stars get in your eyes
Don't let the stars get in your eyes
Don't let the stars get in your eyes
