I take refuge in the Lord,
Lets me not be put to shame;
In righteousness be secured,
To continue to proclaim.
His righteousness delivers,
The hope that reassures me;
From tempters and deceivers,
With fresh insight so I see.
He inclines His ear to me,
For to speedily rescue;
From sinful bondage be free,
For He knows my true value.
He is my rock of refuge,
And a strong fortress that saves;
The faith I cannot refuse,
From the sinning that enslaves.
He is my rock and fortress,
To lead for guiding my way;
Out of the clutches of stress,
That could be leading astray.
He takes me out of the net,
Gives refuge under His wings;
Comforting me not to fret,
Finding solace that He brings.
So, I commit my Spirit,
Into the hands of the Lord;
While faithful in merit,
Remaining in one accord.
For I know that God is truth,
And in the Lord, I will trust;
He guided me through my youth,
I know He is fair and just.
I hated lying vanities,
Worthless idols others trust;
Immoral profanities,
That so many having lust.
I will rejoice and be glad,
In having His steadfast love;
For I am no longer sad,
Saving me from foes thereof.
