PERIPHERY OF SILENCE

PERIPHERY OF SILENCE

Amid the shades of night, caps of white roll to shore
Whispering waves beneath a moonlit sky
Shadows close in as grey images all about me
Caring not that I, too, walk on the edges in silence

I laced my thoughts inside the compass of my mind
As I sat down upon a piece of driftwood
It too must have been thrown from the edges
To this gentle beach wearing its white caps

You came gently into the dialogue of my heart
As my feet played games in the sand
Shadows dancing thru my yesteryears too far back
Now buried in the crevices of time

The kiss of the moonlight lingered on my skin
Touching the memory of something gone
This island of loneliness settled in about me
As the painful memories reminded me….. of you
