His divine power grants things,
Through our knowledge of Him;
That life and godliness brings,
Glory from spiritual vim.
By which He grants to us,
His precious great promises;
So that you may be as thus,
Having a new genesis.
Through them you may be partakers,
As part of a divine nature;
Fight sin through our Maker,
Making you a new creature.
You can escape corruption,
From any sinful desire;
Through faith less interruption,
With rebirth you acquire.
Supplement faith with virtue,
And virtue with the knowledge;
Self-control that you construe,
Godliness to acknowledge.
For brotherly affection,
Causes us to build a love;
Bringing on a perfection,
As it flows down from above.
For if all of this is yours,
And as it is increasing;
The corruption it cures,
For a love never ceasing.
As effective and fruitful,
For knowledge of our Lord;
A love as just and truthful,
Making us in one accord.
Without this will make you blind,
Forgetting that you were cleaned;
For the sins that clouds the mind,
Of the babe that is not weaned.
Give diligence for your call,
A calling and election;
Do these things and never fall,
Because God gives protection.
For what I do endeavor,
When I make a departure;
For His love will not sever,
With being a new creature.
