The Backyard Of My Life

The War On Consciousness

There's a war on consciousness
The truth is something few can handle
Some scream out for more while others want a little less
Is the game worth the candle?
You better get a grip of your soul
Take a look inside
Take a thorn from your pride
When a bird calls the mountain becomes
More mysterious when a crow cries tears of snow
If your cut of from the source how will you ever grow
You can put a pig in lipstick
That still don't make it pretty
Dead on your feet isn't it a pity
They try to tell us what to think and feel
Put words in your mouth take control of the wheel
Down the dirty long and winding road

What gives them the right
To hide from you the light
Keep you kept in the chains of the material world
When there's a stairway to paradise
Waiting for us all
Life is an illusion only shadows on the wall

There's a battle for power
To make sure that the people stay in line
Don't try to wake up from this nightmare
Tell yourself everything is fine
You can smoke but you cant get high
Pay your taxes till the day you die
Cast the stone face faded blue
Like vultures they pray on me and you
When a cloud rolls across the sky the river becomes
more of a masterpiece when a sparrow sings soft and slow
If your disconnected from the source then you will never know
You can put a wolf in sheep's clothes
But it will still bite
Thirst for the taste of blood attack and fight

What the hell gives them the right
To keep you blinded from the light
Keep you locked away in the pathetic political world
Together there is enough strength
To carry us all
Life is only a dream get yourself back on the ball
