He's Always There
He's always there to greet us
at the start of each new day
with a bag of tricks and craftiness
designed to make us stray.
He's always there to spread the lie
through learned men who teach
that there is no hereafter
or a heavenly realm to reach.
He's always there to plant the seed
that sin does not exist
by wrapping it in packages
too lovely to resist.
He's always there to crush our hope
and rob us of our zeal
to the point that when discouraged most,
our souls he tries to steal.
He's always there to drive a wedge
and lead us in disgust
away from friends and family,
the ones we ought to trust.
Yes, Satan is quite clever,
and we must be aware
that even when it seems he's not,
no doubt, he's always there.
