Distant Horizon

The horizon so distant keeps calling me forward
Daring my mind to basque in the view
But offering no bridge across death and destruction
Yet I carry on regardless,
It is what I must do.

Mountains I’ve climbed were never easy or joyful
I have seen so many others fail to hang on
Their cries as they fall will haunt me forever
But onward and upward it has to be done?

The sun is now setting on its never ending cycle
To rise once more beyond horizons new dream
For another to rise and continue their journey
To the distant horizon
Where no one has been?
