Growing up in Britain

When I was growing up in Britain, people seemed to care…?
It mattered not if have… have not, debts were not compared.
A hand in need was offered not thinking of the cost…
A helping hand in time of need a gift that now seems lost.
Religion was once a refuge where anyone could run
Now it spreads disasters where all life comes undone.

Growing up in Britain ain’t what it used to be
The cities have over grown their worth
Out grown humanity.
What has happened to my country,
The country that I knew…?
Where football games were honest
And cheats were ridiculed…
Where standing up when needed
Was a trait we aspired too
Now diving down in football games
Is all you need to do.
I miss these ancient traits of old for all that it may mean
In a modern world where all is cold there is no room left to dream.
