Walk by the Holy Spirit, And you will not gratify; Desires you inherit, From the flesh you can deny. For the desires you lust, Oppose the Holy Spirit; His desires you can trust, In all that you will merit. For these oppose each other, Not do what you desire; Able to help another, What they need to acquire. You are not under the Law, If the Holy Spirit leads; Preventing you from a flaw, For meeting your righteous needs. Carnal works are evident, As an immorality; Emotional impudent, Displaying impurity. Fits of anger and envy, Drunkness and having orgies; Causing strife for jealousy, Enmity towards rivalries. I warn you now as before, That who do any such things; Will be finding a locked door, No chance in getting your wings. Fruit from the Spirit is love, Giving you the joy and peace; Patience and kindness from above, With goodness that will not cease. And those who belong to Christ, Have crucified desires; Passions have been sacrificed, Extinguishing the fires. If we live by the Spirit, Let us also keep in step; Knowing that we inherit, With His vigor and His pep. Copyright © 2019 Richard Newton Sherrer Vote for this poem
