I didn't think I would be alone but you had to go
Oceans apart an absence that aches my heart
You and I share more in common than most
Somehow I feel your presence is near the coast
On iron wings of war and woe, you took your leave
You return on a cloud-filled ruby eve
Within, there burns a flame
My lips call out your name
Harbors shimmer a satin sheen
Waters stillness reflecting clean
My eyes search above and below
The peace I know instills your glow
On the rooftop above the bay
I hear the heart of the sleeping day
True love softly upholds the view
A fleeting moment, a warm adieu
