Dragons

there might be a dragon in the snow
around her
a large pool melting
growing

dragons who are so rarely cool
dragons are more often
the servants of fear
and rampant loathing

there might be a dragon in the snow
around her
a lake gathering
all the tears she meant to cry
gathering around her
now drowning

dragons who are so rarely understood
dragons who are
flesh and bone
wings so angel-fragile
and even the prey of death
makes shimmering nothings
of us all.
