Country Light

Talk to me a little one tell me about your day
She smiled from ear to ear as we sat and talked our time away

Precious moments of the day like this remain
Gentle times like splashing puddles in Summer's rain

Chasing chickens and gathering eggs
Grasshoppers jumping on stick-like legs, sweet Summer days

The farm is bustling in sights and sounds as sheep graze the ground
People in the city on concrete walks and buildings high, crowds passing by

They might never see a newborn lamb, or know the country where life runs free
I watch it all as I swing from the old oak tree

I grew from country light with the peace of nature's sight
The land of care where the promise of life is everywhere
