 JANET'S PLANET

Dishes Waiting To Be Washed

Write a poem that considers a household chore in a new light. Is there anything extraordinary about the ordinariness of an everyday activity such as your job commute, making your bed, taking out the trash, brushing your teeth, washing dishes, or pumping gas into your car? How can these tasks be viewed as a nourishing element of your life?

Writing prompt- from Poets & Writers

Dishes sitting in sink
Piled high, what do you think?
You keep putting off the washing task
Why put off you ask?
It's a routine job
Look closer the dishes are beginning to sob
They do not like to be unclean
To leave them dirty is truly mean
To see a sink of dirty dishes
Is not one of your wishes
Go ahead you are stronger
Don't let dirty dishes sit in the sink any longer
You have to eat
Clean them up, you deserve a treat
Go ahead
No need to dread
Wash the dishes clear your mind
Leave all your worries behind
Wash the dishes clean them for dinner
Dishes washed you are the winner
