Fear
Has always been my Nemesis
Feeling brave
Has always been my gaol
Growing up
I was scared of everything
“i was trouble” so I’m told.
Fear was always lurking
Within every path I chose
So many pointless beatings
A few times, a broken nose.
Fear then seemed to guide me
I needed to feel brave
But never in retribution
Just to give back what life gave.
Now old and almost weary
And understanding so much more
I’m just regretful that my fear of life
Had closed so many doors.
