Where Flowers Grow

She found his heart amid the weeds
That grow where flowers grow
Found that time had all but ceased
Before love touched its glow
The clouds that hovered hungrily
Just dropped a drop or two
Before they pushed further away
From where flowers once grew
He left too suddenly
and weeds just took his space
The rain that sprayed graciously
Left tears upon her face
He left her here amid cacti
Took color home with him
To paint the heavens and the skies
With dew like tears on stems
For joy was to come no more
He took her sunshine home
And all he left were memories
And succulents that roam

For my momma in remembrance of her brother Adolf Sanchez Jr.
