A Prostratei Problem

These days we live
In a world of complexity
Seventy is the new fifty
In these days of longevity
A three wee night in October
Feeling fragile and old
As I wander to the bathroom
In the early morning cold

Just an enlarged prostrate
Wad the Doctor's diagnosis
You'll be dead before it kills you
His optimistic prognosis.
Of course things do wear out
As you get nearer. Old age
Although it's hard to accept
I am now at that stage.

Once a fourteen punt a night man
Who could sleep the night through
Now having to accept all those
Extra nocturnal visits to the loo.
I'll just have to accept
The consolation instead
Of the sheer luxury of climbing
Back into a still warm bed.

I suppose I'm adjusting to
This strangely changed life
But sometime I haves the joy of
accidentally waking up the wife.
Oh life has its rewards
At its every single stage
As I'm just starting to discover
As i approach  near old age

And the only things I miss
Are those things I used to do
Casually and with ease
When I was just twenty two.
I'm learning to adjust
And. Although it's takes all day
I find I get there eventually
In my own slow and steady way.
