A Simple Devotion
And when the dark steals from the light
with the storm raging to its pinnacle
the rain drowns your soul in soaken blight
as thoughts of want wretch into cynical
I ask that you hold out an ounce of hope
to not give in to the accursed abyss
that if you falter I will steady the rope
so you can regain that what you miss
If tears leak from swollen eyes of fear
or arms unchecked by warmed embrace
I will shoulder your hurts and hold dear
to give you solace in times of disgrace
Remember, there is nothing in this world
that can stop me true as your friend
for my love is pure and it be unfurled
when you stand on precipice in the end
