Island of Atlas

Oh what wonders did age-old eyes see
When traveling before Christ in history
The Great Alexander conquered much land
And travelers did marvel at sites of grand
7 man made wonders of the ancient world
Glorious monuments of honours unfurled:
Great Pyramid of Giza for Pharoah Khufu
Hanging Gardens of Babylon, a floral view
A statue of Zeus at Olympia, by Greeks
The Temple of Artemis built in 550 B.C.
Mausoleum of Helicarnassus in Asia Minor
Colossus of Rhodes, 107 feet above harbor
Lighthouse of Alexandria on Pharos isle
Ancient wonders, now gone out of style
There is one more some think worth mention
An 8th that flourished in another dimension
Described in writings penned by the famous
Plato, friend of Socrates, in his Critias
It ruled the Atlantic and Mediteranean Sea
And forced it's captives into cruel slavery
But Poseiden frowned on the Greek's plight
So he ravaged the island with all his might
An ancient continent from bygone history
Atlantis, the 8th wonder, sank into the sea
