The Lord will come like a thief,
When Heaven will pass away;
Those having a disbelief,
Will burn for going astray.
The works done will be exposed,
The earth melt in fervent heat;
All of those who have opposed,
Satan is able to greet.
Since all of these things are thus,
Shall be dissolved with no trace;
What people ought to discuss,
Having lives upon his grace.
Holiness and godliness,
Hastening upon that day;
Cleansed from all our transgress,
Our faithfulness to obey.
Heaven be set on fire,
Dissolving to melt and burn;
Fading all the desire,
That the wickedness did learn.
For His promise that we wait,
Of the new Heaven and earth;
All of the old seals its fate,
Righteousness gives a new birth.
Since you are waiting for these,
Diligent be found by Him;
God has listened to the pleas,
That have been making us grim.
Without a spot or blemish,
Found to be in blameless peace;
A delight God to cherish,
With a joy the will not cease.
Count the patience of the Lord,
Wisdom that builds salvation;
And should never be ignored,
That builds a firm foundation.
When we speak of these matters,
Some things hard to understand;
Because the truth that shatters,
That the Scriptures will demand.
But grow in knowledge and grace,
Of our Lord and Savior;
As His glory will embrace,
Looking on us with favor.
