Informed Through Pain

***************

every day
every night
I know I'm alive
informed through pain

like a bullet
like a bolt
like a burning
like a jolt
it informs me

I didn't ask for it
but it arrived
and chose to stay

I wish I could tell it to go to hell
and get the hell away

I no longer run
I hobble as I walk
I would rather dance
I would rather jaunt
I would rather resemble who
I once was

I am no longer the who I am
I am not the person who I was
I am a stranger
unto myself
it is dangerous to wake
and look for the crumbs and create a crust of
the one who was herself

I want to be whole
I want to rise up
I want to give into my rage and anger
I want to run and run
I want I want I want
but cannot have
I am sad
for who I lost
but I have no choice
I must move on
I must wake up
I must endeavor to endure
there is no fate
there is no cure
this is what has happened
this is what cannot be undone

I cannot accept this
but from this acceptance
I can NEVER run.
