Out of the Doldrums

Out of the doldrums I rise,
freed from bonded chains of tyranny
preaching fear and abstinence,
due to my own inactions.

Wresting control of faculties
so sustained in uprighteous furor,
I grasp the upper hand forcefully,

a sacred wish to reach
the pinnacle of
what mere mortal may obtain,

when gifted the inner power
of self reliance
by a higher power,

to guide me through stormy waters
and set sail to a port of refuge,
where sanity and salvation
reign on the altar, side by side.

The dawning of a new day,
of hopes and aspirations,
will be my banner, unfurled.

Then, can I proudly proclaim...
that I have arrived.
