Letting Wisdom Be Your Guide
When others try to run your life
They assume you are a dope
One seen as insignificant
A loser without hope.
Yes, you become the cat's-paw
Anytime they get their way
Which makes them disrespect you
That's an awful price to pay.
But should you dare assert yourself
They will quickly shoot you down
With scoffing rude and ridicule
Then judge you as unsound.
However, they cannot succeed
Unless you acquiesce
And allow them to control your mind
Your convictions to suppress.
But in the end, the choice is yours
You alone have to decide
Think for yourself or fall in line
