THE STREETS OF BETHLEHEM
The streets of Bethlehem
Have gold tarred to the hem;
They burn with shinny gold;
Sight lovely to behold.
The streets of Bethlehem
Do call men to the King
And yes, the bells do chime;
‘Oh come and see the King!'
The streets of Bethlehem
Are full of marvelous things;
A babe this evening lies
But wrapped in swaddling cloth.
The star does guide the wise
Into the place where lies
The King of kings – the LORD;
The Lord who owns the earth.
The streets of Bethlehem
Are lovely to behold;
The streets garnished with pearl
Do lead the costly in.
Oh, beauteous Bethlehem!
The streets of Bethlehem!
Do burn with suited gold;
They adorn the city's gate!
Oh Bethlehem Judah,
You are not the least
For out of you shall come
He that shall rule Israel.
