You have been raised with Christ,
Seek things that are above;
No longer be enticed,
Things of the earth thereof.
Set your mind on the things,
From above not the earth;
From the blessings that brings,
Of an everlasting worth.
For the fact you have died,
Life is hidden with Christ;
For He was crucified,
That sins be sacrificed.
When Christ who is your life,
You will also appear;
For the toils and strife,
That you will dread and fear.
So, put to death therefore,
What is earthly in you;
Sexually impure,
Evil being construe.
The wrath of God is near,
As well as Judgment Day;
Noncompliance comes clear,
Of those who disobey.
In these you too once walked,
You were living in them;
Vulgarness that you squawked,
God could simply condemn.
You must put them away,
Obscene talk from your tongue;
For slander makes you stray,
Acts like fire being flung.
Lie not to another,
And put off the old self;
Ways treated each other,
Put off on the back shelf.
The new self, please put on,
Which is being renewed;
Knowledge of a new dawn,
Of the image pursued.
His image created,
Neither is Jew nor Greek;
Rather as related,
Unto Heaven they seek.
