Looking Out for Number One
There are those who thumb their nose at God
And disregard His Son
While glorying in material things
Looking out for number one.
They tend to see the Lord's Day
As just another day
To do exactly as they please
In some self-serving way.
Whether going on a fishing trip
Or watching a baseball game
Sleeping in or cutting grass
There is no sense of shame.
They worship at the altar
Of excess and worldly lust
By hoarding things on loan from God
Soon ruined by moth and rust.
But one day, they'll acknowledge Him
And confess Christ as His Son
While learning that their fate was sealed
Looking out for number one.
