To Him who struck down the first born, His steadfast love endures always; For the promised land to sojourn, Blessings rewarded to who prays. Israel brought out among them, His firm love endures forever; The enemies He will condemn, Because His love will not sever. A strong arm and an outstretched arm, Such a love endures forever; Keeping Israel from all harm, In their trek that they endeavor. To whom divided the Red Sea, His steadfast love lasts forever; Responding to every plea, An abandonment is never. Israel passes right on through, Because His love is eternal; But Pharaoh’s men had not withdrew, When drowning in a cisternal. He led them through the wilderness, Forever His love does endure; Comforting them when in distress, Ever present to reassure. To Him who had struck down great kings, Forever strives His steadfast love; Reassures what victory brings, By abiding in Him thereof. He gave them land their heritage, For enduring love is steadfast; An inheritance to manage, A promise made to ever last. He remembered a low estate, Rescuing from all enemies; Ensuring they would meet their fate, For their belief in blasphemies. He who gave them water and food, Give thanks to the God in Heaven; For the people that He rescued, With steadfast love He has given. Copyright © 2019 Richard Newton Sherrer Vote for this poem
