I am made a servant of all, So that I might win more of them; For though I am free to enthrall, Before God decides to condemn. To the Jews I became a Jew, I became one under the Law; For as to win over a few, That they repent for any flaw. To those that were outside the Law, But be under the Law of Christ; For catching those before they fall, That to Jesus they be enticed. Unto the weak I became weak, Because I have become all things; By means that I save those who seek, Showing them what salvation brings. I do it all for the Gospel, That I may share in its blessings; Ensuring to reach the people, Of God sending His glad tidings. Do you not know that in a race, All runners run for just one prize; Which happens to be an embrace, Seeing Jesus Christ with his eyes. Each man strives with a self-control, Receiving a decaying wreath; But an incorruptible soul, For eternal life to bequeath. So, I do not run aimlessly, I do not box beating the air; A fight not an uncertainty, Rather as a Christian to care. I discipline to keep control, Lest after preaching to others; So that Jesus Christ will console, All the new sisters and brothers. Copyright © 2019 Richard Newton Sherrer Vote for this poem
