Poetic Verses
Until I Left the Nest
I was young and very headstrong
And convinced that I knew best
But didn't know how hard life was
Until I left the nest.
And had to make it on my own
By daily toil and sweat
Which made me feel at times that I
Did work without a net.
I should have learned a thing or two
Before I ventured out
But never took the time to think
What life is all about.
The older I got, the less I knew
Though time gave clarity
And showed me that my life was not
How I wanted it to be.
Oh, it's funny now, in looking back
To think that I knew best
But didn't know how hard life was
Until I left the nest.
And convinced that I knew best
But didn't know how hard life was
Until I left the nest.
And had to make it on my own
By daily toil and sweat
Which made me feel at times that I
Did work without a net.
I should have learned a thing or two
Before I ventured out
But never took the time to think
What life is all about.
The older I got, the less I knew
Though time gave clarity
And showed me that my life was not
How I wanted it to be.
Oh, it's funny now, in looking back
To think that I knew best
But didn't know how hard life was
Until I left the nest.
