Your testimonies are grand, Therefore, my soul will keep them; Shows all of us where You stand, No fear that You would condemn. The unfolding of Your words, It imparts understanding; Making enemies cowards, Of what You are demanding. They are simple giving light. I open my mouth and pant; Since they are shedding insight, Etched in my mind to enchant. I long for Your commandments, Because they entice the heart; Roots deep in my sentiments, Entrapping not to depart. Turn to me and be gracious, Look upon me with mercy; To be strong and courageous, As to offer clemency. Because those who love Your name, Have been following Your way; I continue to proclaim, And never to go astray. Order my steps in Your Word, According to Your promise; Allowing my ears has heard, Of Your impartial justice. Let no iniquity rule, Get dominion over me; I do not want to be fool, Open my eyes as to see. Redeem me from oppression, So that I keep Your precepts; Never to have obsession, With any evil concepts. Make Your face shine upon me, Teaching me of Your statutes; Understanding of Your decree, For performing my pursuits. For my eyes shed streams of tears, Since people keep not Your Law; It has brought out my worst fears, You condemn them for their flaw. Copyright © 2019 Richard Newton Sherrer Vote for this poem
