Poetic Verses
Nothing Else to Do
They're headed for the river now
To catch a fish or two
On a lovely Sunday morning
Having nothing else to do.
Dad is hitching up the bass boat
To his brand-new four-wheel drive
While the children whine incessantly
"What time shall we arrive?"
Mom is busy loading fishing gear
And relevant supplies
So needed for the day-long trip
Even plastic worms and flies.
Yes, Dad has planned a day of ease
With his children and his wife
But disregards the Giver
And Sustainer of his life.
The One who richly blesses him
With all he claims to own
From bass boat to that shiny truck
Things only his on loan.
But perhaps he will awaken soon
Then come to realize
And understand as others have
That except for grace go I.
And assume responsibility
For meeting his family's needs
Unless to catch a fish means more
Than sowing spiritual seeds!
