It was Christmas Eve in the city,
And the big toy shop had closed,
There were no toys left,
For Sally and Jeff,
Their 'Dear Santa' delayed by the snow.
Santa hadn't an inkling,
Albeit the weather was bad,
It amounted to this,
They were not on his list,
So their gifts were not in his bag.
Merry Christmas came to the rescue,
A surrogate Santa as such,
As the gifts mounted high,
Sal and Jeff swore they spied,
A good fairy covered in soot.
Merry Christmas, a girl like no other,
Goodwill in a stunning red frock,
A heart made o’ gold,
Fashioned on the North Pole,
Santa’s daughter believe it or not.
