Empty bottle.
Tears beat out a relentless rhythm
Against his window to the world
A man trapped inside a bottle
A vessel to navigate regret within.
Hand held in a clench that is empty
Once grasped a meaning long gone
Having slipped through unsteady fingers
Wet with tears of self pity.
Unable to overcome his fears
He drowns within the comfort he sought
Sinking below to join with others
Entombed within their bottled tears.
