You have heard from the start, To love one another; Think of them from the heart, Like sister and brother. We should not be like Cain, Came from the evil one; Caused his brother a pain, That his murder was done. Why did he murder him? Because of evil deed; Jealousy making grim, From having lustful greed. But do not be surprised, Because the world hates you; Righteousness is despised, For what you say is true. We passed from death to life, Because of having love; Which endures any strife, Knowing what is thereof. Murderers are who hate, Because they hide from Christ; Believes not of their fate, Since the earth has enticed. For the love we perceive, That His life did downcast; So that we could receive, A life to ever last. Whoso has worldly wealth, Sees his brother in need; Give for spiritual health, Whatever he may plead. Let’s not love in the Word, Rather talk in the truth; Abide what you have heard, Remembering from your youth. Let not the heart condemn, Because God is greater; His Law abides in them, By no means a hater. Copyright © 2019 Richard Newton Sherrer Vote for this poem
