Let love be genuine, No dissimulation; Showing everyone, The great jubilation. Abhor what is evil, Hold fast to what is good; Avoiding the devil, Not as what Satan would. Show love to one another, With brother affection; Honoring each other, Giving no affliction. Be not slothful in zeal, Nor lazy in business; Be fervent how you feel, In spirit without stress. Rejoicing in your hope, Be constantly in prayer; Patiently as you cope, Tribulation you share. Contribute to the needs, Show hospitality; To any saint that pleads, Use rationality. Bless those who persecute, Bless and do not curse them; Try not to prosecute, Let God judge and condemn. Rejoice who does rejoice, Weep with the ones that weep; Calm them with a soft voice, To be able to sleep. Try not to be haughty, Rather in harmony; Never to be naughty, For causing agony. Take pity on your foe, Subdue evil with good; Allow the love to flow, Show what love only could. Copyright © 2020 Richard Newton Sherrer Vote for this poem
