This shall be for the future, Generations yet to be; Could be facing the rapture, The believers that will see. Created to praise the Lord, As He looked down from Heaven; For someone in one accord, That salvation was given. He heard the groaning of them, Set free who were doomed to die; Released before God condemn, Because the pleas that they cry. They may declare in Zion, Speak to the name of the Lord; Praise like a roaring lion, That He was honored and adored. When the people do gather, To worship and serve the Lord; The kingdoms come together, For being in one accord. The Lord has broken my strength, While shortening my days; This has been cutting the length, A leash allowing my strays. Take me not away my days, Away in the midst of years; Avoid those immoral ways, Show God honor that reveres. For God laid the foundation, Of old created the earth; Giving us a salvation, Which allows us a new birth. Heaven is work of His hands, They will perish but we live; We remain through His commands, For all who He does forgive. Their garments shall then wear out, He will change them like a robe; They will pass away with doubt, Before they see the new globe. But God will remain the same, His years will not have an end; His children dwell to proclaim, No longer will they offend. Copyright © 2020 Richard Newton Sherrer Vote for this poem
