Creatures of Darkness

Dark clouds course across the moon,
Lightning flares a ragged gash;
Pelting rain becomes a stinging lash.

Deep underground in crypt cold cave
Lurk monstrous creatures, hunger's slave.
Enticed by the eerie moonless night
They venture forth, a chilling sight.

Driven from the surface long ages ago;
Dwelling in ravenous hunger fathoms below.
Yet on darkest night they hunt once more;
Eager to feast on tasty mortal gore.

So should you encounter a storm swept night,
And consider a stroll to experience the sight;
Beware what monstrosities the light holds at bay,
And await the dawning of another day.
